It doesn't make more power just changes what power the Dyno reads. Still 4wd. It's a nightmare to Dyno with it moving torque around.

Also curious about this. Everything I have heard about the car shifting torque around has been anecdotal.

No it's variable via a clutch pack pretty similar to a haldex system. You can see the clutch pack pressure readings constantly changing in techstream. The turning on and off mid corner depending on throttle is very noticeable with the overdriven rear wheels.

So what's so special about our system compared to rivals?

Mechanically not a lot.

Engine > box > transfer > prop > clutch coupling > rear diff

It's just a very modern implementation in terms of software and ability to control it, is coupled to torsen LSDs which is not always the case and is a fun little 1200kg car.

And to be fair a lot of the haldex internet hate comes from people driving shitty diesel A4s looking for a reason to say their car is better than a golf R

Would you say haldex is better than a purely FWD with a LSD?

Depends what at.

For pure cornering grip no (you see a lot of TTs and golfs converted to fwd for track)

For using the rear to rotate the car, yes

For bad weather, yes

For moving off in a straight line, yes
