DIY trunk lighting

Not sure if you feel the same pain. GRY has no lighting at all in the trunk. Every night grabbing stuff in the dark trunk is a challenge for me.

So, I decided to DIY some lighting. My first attempt was adding small size chargeable motion sensor light. It was.....good enough, did the job adding some lighting, but the angle of the light is not perfect since I can only stick it on the side of the trunk.

Did some research on the internet marketplace, found something really cool, calls "Trunk LED Light Strip". Reasonable price and seems not to difficult to install, so I gave a shoot, result is satisfying.

I did full cycle, but the top half is partially covered by the rubber (it still illuminate the trunk, just not shooting straightly to my eyes). The bottom half is showing completely to add fancy look .

I didn't record pics during installing, but here are some pics from the marketplace for your reference. The power source is from the roof lamp, so it does turn on when doors or trunk open.

That does look like a neat solution, thanks for sharing. It is a pain not having a boot light where I live in the deep, dark countryside - especially in winter.

Was it east to get to the roof interior light to plug it in? Were they sold with different connector types, is there a particular one to look for?

Thanks, Chris

I didn't take the whole roof off for the installation coz I don't want to remove panels for this work. I only took the rear roof clips off and make a gap for the power cable to pass through, it's a bit tricky and took some time to get it done. Then just cross attach the power line onto the roof light bulb.
