I will try and put a little context to this thread, I know Mike doesn't even have a smart phone and is an advocate of all that is old school, in many ways I agree with him and he is a mind of information and a proper petrol head.
My experience is I had one fitted the Ghost 2 to my GR which I sold in May this year, yes I had the app and also the unique inputs of the code which you set, the fitter usually sets a simple code which you change when the fitter has left. The app words well as said by a previous contributor to this thread. You also get like a credit card with a scratch panel in case you forget the unique code that you have set, so no drama should you forget your code. Its simple and mine didn't suffer and battery drain issues. One big advantage is automatic door locking can be programmed by the installer which the GR doesn't have. Also the valet mode is excellent because after you have explained what it does to the service desk, they don't tend to test drive the car.
I also have one on my Focus RS, owned now almost 9 years, this is the earlier Ghost 1 which does the same as the later one. I am not aware of a car with Ghost being stolen unless it's low loaded away.
The crucks of the question is would I have one fitted again the answer is yes, but I would urge you or anyone considering this is to have it fitted by a proficient installer and the man to choose is Chris Preston based in Northampton.
I must say I didn't know about the door locking but will ask my installer about this as thats one thing I don't like about the GR, every car I've had in the last few years locks the doors once you drive away including my little Citroen Nero van, never understood why Toyota didn't give this option on the GR.

Why would you want yet another 'app' on your phone? lose that phone and to these post millennials it would be the end of their world ! I see these idiots in supermarket queues trying to get their phone to pay for shopping or find some QR code or whatever it is they do, fancy having all your banking on the phone ! jesus NO. I do the unthinkable, sometimes i actually leave home without my phone ON PURPOSE !!! to escape texts and calls for an hour or so ! Dont be married to the phone people !! be FREE !!

I wish the UK government and Police were more like the Americans in this clip than the wet woke Liberal dopey Canadian !!..

Well unfortunately that's the way we live today, cars have no CD or Cassette player any more so all of my music is streamed from my phone, so without my phone I would just have to listen to radio, I'm self employed and people call my phone to book in work, long gone are the days of carrier pigeons lol

Like I said the app is the easiest way to use the ghost immobiliser, I don't have to open the app or even take the phone out of my pocket but if thats a bother then they have bluetooth fobs.

And as for banking on your phone, I have had banking on my phone for years now and it's safer than a card as you use your biometrics to use it, and if someone manages to get hold of my bank details uses my card, my banks notify me at every transaction and even have to approve them sometimes using face id or the banks own face scan before they pay out

Hi peeps, anyone got one of these fitted to there GR? Just want to get some thoughts on them I've pre booked to have one installed, but am just wondering if it's worth me having it done? Had the car 3 yrs now mainly track days so not a daily & the odd car meet etc

1. Car locked in garage with door guard (garage is in a block) 1 road in & out no other access to garages. (Out of sight out of mind)
2. Done away with smart keyless entry gone old school with the key fob hopefully less chance it being scanned if am out & about 🙏
3. Have moblie tracker but not insurance approved

Any help will be much appreciated

Hopefully this is in the right section 🤣
I have a ghost immobiler fitted on my GR and don't even notice that its there, You can input your code, have a fob or just an app on your phone, I have the app on my phone and as long as its in the car with me the car just starts as normal but it stops anyone stealing the car.

When I take it in for service I put the car in service mode and it stays in service mode until the car is driven over, I think, 32MPH at which point the service mode resets and they can't start the car again.

The fitting took about an hour and is the best thing ive done. I was going to have a tracker fitted originally and someone asked if I would want the car back if it was stolen, and my answer was no, so best to stop them stealing it rather than watching someone drive it like an idiot on a tracking app.
