Torque Pro, rooted Android phone, Screen2Auto.apk and AA AIO Tweaker.apk

With these programs you're able to run even most of the programs not designed for AndroidAuto and you can alter some of the strange/not wanted AA behavior.

Bye for now Fred
Cool thanks (y) I thought it maybe Screen2Auto but wasn't sure. I've tried it but it's far to flakey and unreliable in my setup so I gave up trying to use it!!

Any chance there might be an tutorial for this somewhere? Also, does your phone have to be rooted?

Currently using OBD2AA on Huawei P20 (none rooted, cause you just can't root it.. at least not easily.) It's a bit janky but it works.
There is a chance: YouTube has a good tutorial. Your phone has to be rooted.

For a long time I'm waiting for CarDongle as a substitute for a phone, but they are still working on that and I doubt this USB stick will show up before Christmas... I'll keep you informed

Cheers bud! I'll look into this.

About the CarDongle thing, not sure about those but.. The Wifi-AA dongles (Carsifi and AAWireless) sure seemed interesting. Pity they're really hard to find atm.

Have no ELM427 (my units are all ELM327). Best is to look at the Torque-Wiki which is located here

Bye for now Fred

Eddy, should be possible, if...
...you got a valid PID
...the ECU "understands" this PID
...you get the formula to extract the correct information for each sensor
...you know which OBD header has to be used
then it should be possible. Do you got a PID to test?

Bye for now Fred

My use of this has now stopped completely today which is extremely annoying. Appears there was an Android Auto update last day or so which once installed stops Screen2Auto and OBD2AA from appearing on the main AndroidAuto layout on the cars screen! Anybody else seeing this?

Same thing.

Worked fine in the morning but no life at the evening.. Didn't even update the phone. Tried to install older version of AA (6.9x and 6.8x) and it first shows OBD2AA in the list, but if you close AA and reopen it, AA is gone again. Also same thing happened for Fermata. HUGE bummer.

Going to use Torque from the phone screen for now.

Thanks for confirming it wasn't just me being stupid! Doing the same as you for now but would rather info was on my cars screen  :(

I think this issue is more phone model dependant. Tried to install A and B option. Also cleared caches etc between etc.

Still only showing apps once, but not on the second try.

I'm using Huawei P20 with android 10.

There is a new program called AAEase.apk available to overcome the Google restrictions (stopping Screen2Auto from working). For more info please visit https://inceptive.ru/projects/aaease/
I'm now off to test. Update will follow (hopefully soon)

Bye for now Fred

Update 1: No function right now, doesn't download the modified Screen2Auto. Now I'm VIP for Screen2Auto paying $4.- for that privilege :)
Update 2: It's working now. (Dec. 9th 10:30h)
