I've seen a poor quality photo of this on the internet and though the original might be of some interest to you all.

No small print and confirmed with dealer and plan received as 4 services, the safety check is as it states a safety check not a service.
it is seemingly a deal that Arnold Clark has in place for new sales.
Had questioned it at the time, just received the plan and it is clearly 4 services in the 4 year period for GR Yaris.
If that's two intermediate services and two full services plus the £200 for four safety checks, it's cheap..... Or they've got it wrong.
The intermediate has just seen a price increase.

Would not worry about cost looks like they think car needs service annually rather than every 6000 miles 4 years 4 services
Or have you said you will only do 6000 a year ?
It's worded to cover 4 services, could be say 6000,12000,18000,24000 or year 1,2,3,4
Either way I am hoping they don't try and be smart - confirmed by e mail and on service plan.
Have followed up again with them and sent the service plan on previous page, will see what they come back with.

Watching with interest as I remember you are also dealing with AC Aberdeen, I have been offered a plan but the email says "we can do the first 4 services ( remember this car has a 6 month interval ) for £569" which sounds to me like he means a 2 year plan

Don’t think that’s correct service intervals are 6000 miles
interim inspections are every 6 months regards less of mileage
you have 1st service at 12 months or 12000 that’s wrong
this is why they are saying the interim inspection would be free if done at same time as servicing ie 6000 miles
services are 6000 miles small service 12000 big service 18000 small service 24000 big service etc etc

I was offered a service plan with the health check at every 3000 miles, which seemed somewhat excessive. It's even more excessive if you need to have it carried out to maintain the warranty. I'd have though 6000 miles or a year should really be sufficient.

Has anyone had confirmation from Toyota on whether you "need" to carry out the safety check?

It's quite comical the different things people are hearing.
It won't be when u need the warranty for a £5k fix in 8 years time and Toyota say no due to saving a couple of hundred quid. You would then have to spend a few more £k on lawyers to argue that 'recommended' does not mean 'mandatory' in a court. It's less than a tank of fuel - just play the game….

No not particularly - I agree every dealer has a different view. But far too much faith being given to verbal agreements or chats with the dealer etc. If the warranty is needed years down the line those chats are often forgotten and the person who said it long gone. For what it’s worth I do think that recommended and mandatory are two very different things…. But it’s not worth the arguments in the future

I think you and I are on the same side here then (y) I think a lot of people think that "recommended" means "don't need to but would be nice"

These are our cars which we own and do with as we wish, nothing is "mandatory" other than paying £34k to Toyota, but if you want a warranty I'd do as they recommend.

I will be a "high mile nutter" as someone alluded to earlier in the thread, had it 10 days and over 1100 miles done...

I am hoping to get the safety check thrown in as a good will gesture, but i am confused by conflicting information from dealers and the fact that a recommended check does not come with paperwork and stamp particularly if they charge £50/30 for it... and Toyota GB allegedly say it is required for warranty purposes...

Toyota really need to update the service intervals on the app. (And educate there dealers)

How many owners arent on owners groups/FB pages etc and have seen on the app that its every 9,999. Imagine the bun fight if someone in good faith doesnt service their GR until 9,988 miles then they have mechanical issues.

Oh god I'm so confused by the service intervals! ?‍♂ the attachment in the first post for the checkboxes shows: every "6months/6k miles" or "1year/6k miles" or "1year/12k miles" - I will hit 6 months before the 6k miles but would this imply it's a service or safety check? I'm assuming it's an intermediate service and then a full service at 1 year? Then when would I get a service/safety check after that? I'm not a high mileage-r so assuming I'd follow the every 6 month service? Any help appreciated!

I can get the confusion. I'll be in a similar boat.

I don't know if a safety check is basically just a service minus actually replacing fluids and parts.

The way I read it is that they want to see the car every six months, if you're not doing 6000 miles a year, but every year will be a service and that the service and safety check will coincide.

I with they'd rather just said they want safety checks every six months, and one of them is included in the service per year.

Effectively that's what the mileage limit does (every 6k miles, you get a safety check and service)

I don't know if anyone has actually asked Toyota if the service actually also counts as a safety check, because that would make it slightly more bearable. For example, if you do 9000 miles a year, after six months you'll only have done 4500 miles, but hit the six month safety check, but 2 months later you'll hit the service interval on miles.... in 4 more months, you'll hit the safety check again, if it doesn't reset at service and give you another six months.

mailed my rep, see what he says.
