I will probably give RRG Macclesfield a call or Steven Eagell Chelmsford based on what others have said. I have heard very good things about RRG Macclesfield from multiple sources already so I think that's a sure bet. It's a long drive for me though.

I drive 200 miles each way for my oil change and or service, but they are worth it. Head technician owns a GR4

 

I paid for a 3 year service plan online. it is something like 25 a month but meant the small services were charged at the old price (less than 190).

Intermediate service at 6,12 & 18 months, £140 each on a plan through my dealer.
24 month is the big service at £340.
Safety checks become freebies.
You snooze you lose... The intermediate services must have caught them out as they didn't have the oil prices covered correctly. Ha ha ?

 

I need to work out where the best dealership for servicing will be, I used to drive about 100 miles each way to get my Honda S2000 serviced because the techs knew the cars inside out. Always supplied my own oil though, and will supply my own oil again for the GR, purchased through Opie Oils, unless the Toyota dealers are cocks and don't allow it as per Porsche dealerships.

A dealership with a tech owning a GR would be ideal........

It's basically RRG or Chelmsford.

 

RRG is 138 miles away, which is probably just too much, though it looks like it's not far from the railway station so probs could have a run into Manchester for the day.

 

I did this once. Recommend that you keep the receipts for the oil and filter purchases.
The oil receipt would have to properly describe exactly what the oil is.

What pointless crap. Everyone who drives such a car should be able to look at the tread depth and the brakes. I don't need a pointless trip to the dealer for this. That annoys me a lot.

 

I was thinking along the same lines. Is the safety check much more than this or a tyres and pads check? Bearing in mind I'm on my second set of tyres and 3rd set of pads before 3months ownership it seems more than moronic.

 

My understanding is that, under the Block Exemption Regulation, you can't be compelled to do servicing at a dealership to keep your warranty.

 

That is technically true - but it's the paperwork, receipts and in some cases photos of what went in and when that they will be looking for if there is a warranty issue. Not just Toyota though tbf - they all do it…

 

The Toyota dealer I collected my GR from proactively called me to chase a booking for health check as it’s approaching 6mths old (they quoted £50, although not relevant to me as I have a Service Plan). Car has been booked in for 6,000 mile service as it’s almost at that mileage anyway. On a related note: the MyT app is not up to date and still shows 10,000 mile service intervals.

Only a calamity for the persons injured/killed and the 10 million fine for Toyota.

 

I will do all the servicing myself at half intervals or less. Nobody is touching this car except myself unless its unavoidable.

 

Is the 6 month health check necessary and paramount towards keeping the 10 yr warranty?. Mine is 7 moth old, so a month late but it only has covered 760 miles.

 

Most dealers are saying it is not essential to maintain the warranty but you may want to confirm that with your own dealer.

Yes, it is not mandatory i just discovered , they can do the two when it is In for its normal annual service.

 

Independent mechanic for me (two friends own workshops, and one of them also owns a GRY).
Dealerships in Australia are generally not trusted by enthusiasts.

New to the forum but had the GR for almost a year now. Had my 12months service today. Looking at the app, they took it for a 20 minute blast down the road. Is that normal? I did not report any issues with the car.
I asked them to switch off ESE but they told me the car had no fake noise speaker (started chatting about the speaker EVs have to have by law). I told them it's worrying that they had no clue about it. 20 minutes later they said they had to call the technical line to find out how to switch it off and offered to give it a go then (at which point I had to leave). Has anyone had a similar experience? Have i just ended up at a dealership that never seen a GR, took it for a joy ride and know nothing about the car?
On a seperate, but related note, anyone near Bristol that have the obd2 software to switch ESE off in exchange for some beers?

Which dealer did you use?

I bought mine from Howards Weston Super Mare, had its first service back with them today. They used the GR service sheet, even listed the exact oil used in the service and the tech came out to ask me about the transmission/diff oil i requested to be changed.

They checked it for me, changed the rear diff oil but left the front/transfer box as it looked new.

I have an OBD reader and Carly app i use for my BMW, not tried it on the Yaris.

 

The main dealers are mostly awful for these cars, seems to be a tick box exercise and pot luck if you get the right fluids etc. Service prices have jumped significantly aswell recently. I'd look elsewhere for servicing.

 

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I bought a 3 year service plan so I am stuck with them for the foreseeable- might just go back to the dealer I bought the car from- bit of a longer drive but hopefully they will actually know something about the GR.

 

Bristol South. I bought the car from Bristol North and they seemed far more knowledgable (but it's a 30min journey difference so asked for the service to be done at Brisol South).

That sounds like a far better service!My paperwork just says 'service in accordance with manufacturer specification'.

Just had my 18k/36 month service done at Somerset County Cars in Taunton.
Routine stuff, no bother, went off to visit the excellent new classic car and bike museum (County Classics Museum) in the middle of town while I waited.
The service was £262.50 + VAT and the transmission fluid change was £153 + VAT.
I never cease to be amazed at the price of oil, don't know how many litres but the 0W20 engine oil was £73.25 + VAT

 

That oil price is ridiculous.

 

It seems to about the going rate for genuine Toyota oil.
