Speed indicator on digital display

Does anybody else have a Yaris that forgets where it is or gets confused.

I'm talking about that small speed indicator you get on the digital display the one in the top left corner.

So most of the time it reads fine and says the correct speed limit for the road I'm on.

But sometimes I'll be on a local 30mph road and the speed indicator is reading 100.

I'm assuming the car is reading kph when it shows 100 and not mph.

I don't change any settings and drive in the same modes , so I'm confused.

Anyone shed any light on this for me?

Cheers

The system is flawed and crap , sometimes it goes blank , shows 50 in 30 or vice versa with road speed changes . I ignore it . To be honest I wish Toyota would just have stripped the cars out more from all this sensors and bleeps syndrome. Each generation of manufacturers adds something on that just gets more on your nerves . I was reading a road test a few months ago on the Renault Megane R26 & newer R Trophy , the tester was buzzed about how cars like that really do feel different / old school. Pity Toyota don’t have a GR in uk to buy like that . The GRMN is similar but not as raw as Renault . I sometimes feel like selling and getting Escort MK2 restomod with sequential . B road Bliss 🥰
