GRMN Gear knob

Has anyone installed a GRMN gear knob and found that it is way lighter than the original?

I installed one in my Gen 2 and the original knob must have weighed 500g so I wondered if the Gen 1 knob is the same and what effect putting a lighter one on will have.

With the original I was finding that under hard cornering it would select 5th rather than 3rd when pushing the stick directly forward so I am hopeful that this might help resolve the issue or maybe the gearbox/ engine mounts are too soft.

Anyone else experienced this?

I've got the lightweight alcantara knob, it definitely makes the gearchange 'less polished' it makes it feel a bit cheaper and a bit notchier, not as smooth and solid feeling as the stock heavy knob. ( i do like it though!!) If the car had come std with the lightweight knob, and the heavy knob came as an accessory, you just know folk would be saying " oh hell yes, the weighted knob improves the shift, so much smoother and more solid feeling" !!!

I honestly don’t know as went straight to purple… In for a penny and all that! I can’t think there’s much difference between the two. As I have no back seats and running an Akrapovic so noise and vibration is all part of the driving experience 😂

I can guarantee the standard one will already be split...

Also swapped out the standard gear knob for the GRMN and surprised at the weight difference! I didn’t notice any differences apart from I like the Alcantara and looks nice. Possibly a little lighter to throw through the gears. Not sure how effective it would be in a sock of you got into a bar brawl! 🤣 🤣

I changed the standard torque mount for an Airtec purple bush. Noticeable difference...

There's an Airtec yellow bush mount for sale on eBay £135 or offers. I recon £100 should do the trick.
