there's a short shift attachment that fits on gearbox arm that does shorten the shift length but not same as fitting full on gear lever in cabin. The height of the lever combined with its short throw is what makes for smooth and much quicker gear change, the little mod on gearbox if effectively a stop-gap to fitting gear lever, shortens the throw but won't speed up the change time

you could also combine that with the TGR risers. not the same as a CAE of course, but it should bring some improvements

I ordered the TGR shift rizer, the Foresight short shifter and an height adjustable gear shift knob from Greedy. I think, this result in a cheep CAE similar shift experience.
Similar to what I'm gearing towards. Already have the risers in place, short shifter on order. Was trying to get a raceseng extension + weighted shift knob, but unfortunately they don't manufacture any adapters for the GR, and it seems the GT86 ones are different

Since I've moved my steering wheel further back with a spacer I'm wondering if a CAE can be mounted slightly tilted towards the rear to get the shifter knob a bit further back, matching the wheel. I'm thinking making some spacers for the two front mounts. Will the linkage be okay if the front of the base is elevated slightly and at a small angle?

Can we use this FRSG quick shift with the CAE shifter ?

i have one for the yaris too now :)
definitely speeds up shifts and feels much nicer. now just to make a bag that fits around it.
My Broyotas fitted the CAE shifter today.

What a difference!

I find the GR gear change spot on. Any quicker and I'd beat the sychcromesh.
Glad you're happy. CAE are popular on track cars, not road cars.

I don't like the looks but I do like the ergonomics, so I've raised (TGR), extended (DIY) and shorted (Foresight) the shift to mimic somewhat the CAE (almost same height). Since the steering wheel spacer, I've wanted the shifter higher up for more complete ergonomics...

Just installed my CAE today, wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make but it actually feels great especially when hooning. Took a bit of messing about to get it set up properly but everything feels nice and tight now and no issue selecting any gears.

I think it's one of those things where if you've got the money it's a nice upgrade but I wouldn't say it's essential, you can get half the effect for under a couple of hundred quid with assorted parts (cough, cough..). The CAE is a very well engineered bit of kit though.

Will be working on a carbon knob for it and potentially a vanity panel to cover the exposed guts of the car over the next few weeks
