A cheap way to lower your car (at night)?

The lower light projection highlights local road kill better

 

They’re called fog lights, not constantly on to make you look like a chavvy 17 year old that thinks it’s cool lights.
I find using them when it’s foggy is the ideal thing.
Why not buy a Nissan Joke and switch the rear ones on all the time too?

 

I will admit to driving my 944 like that at dusk until its dark enough to need headlights - keeps the headlights clean and as foglight beam is low and wide should be less annoying to oncoming traffic. I also sometimes use front fogs with headlights in the country for seeing round corners better - however I turn them off for oncoming traffic. I use rear foglights when its foggy (and also very heavy daytime spray) but turn them off when the car behind is close enough to see my normal rear lights.
People who use rears in the dark and rain with cars behind them should be locked in a windowless room with walls full of fog lights for 24 hours.

I compared the stock fogs with the yellow fogs on a very foggy day.
The GR Yaris on the right has had the fog unit replaced.
(That unit is the fog unit for the Type 30 Prius.)

In my opinion, the yellow fog is more visible to other cars.

Yellow light is better in fog, that's why on older cars they were yellow. I can't recall the reasoning now but I'm sure you can google it, something to do with the frequency of the colour wave

 

Daft question possibly, could you not just use some lense film to alter the colour to yellow?

 

From reading posts by GR Yaris owners in Japan and on this forum, I believe that there are people in both Japan and the UK who have installed yellow film on their original fog lights.

The downside is that the light output is a bit low, but it is one way to go.

 

Hello guys. I just upgraded my fog lamps into LED projectors. They are far stronger than the crappy stock fog lamps and are now usable and functional. You can see them in this video towards the last part:

Yellow is the middle of the light spectrum so you see it better .

 

Yellow light is also effectively single wavelength (although there is a range) which leads to less perceived diffraction and increases contrast. Or words to that effect.
